About SeatWise
We research chairs so you do not have to sit in the wrong one for three years
Buying an ergonomic office chair is one of the worst shopping experiences on the internet. Every brand says it is the best, every product page looks the same, and if you are short, tall, wide, or living with back pain, the generic “best office chair” lists tell you nothing useful.
What we do differently: our reviews are organised around who you are and how you sit — body type, pain condition, budget and workspace — because that is the information that actually decides whether a chair works for you.
How we choose what to recommend
1. Fit firstSeat width, seat depth, weight capacity and armrest height decide whether a chair physically suits you. We check these before anything else. |
2. AdjustabilityA chair you cannot adjust to your body is a chair you will hate in six months. A fixed lumbar support or a fixed seat pan is a red flag for us. |
3. Build qualityGas lift class, frame material and warranty length are the best predictors of how long a chair lasts. We treat the warranty as the most honest number on the product page. |
4. Price to valueThe most expensive chair is not the best chair. Where a mid-priced option beats a premium one, we say so plainly rather than ranking the priciest model first. |
How we make money
SeatWise is reader-supported. When you buy through links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission — most often through the Amazon Associates program. It does not change the price you pay.
We do not accept paid placements. Brands cannot buy a spot in a list or a favourable verdict, and if we are sent a product to evaluate, that does not change the verdict we reach.

Who we are
We are a small, independent team of researchers and long-term desk workers. We sit in chairs for a living, and we have spent enough years in bad ones to take this seriously.
Corrections and updates
Chairs get discontinued, specifications get revised and prices move. If something on this site is wrong or out of date, tell us via the contact page and we will fix it. We would rather correct a mistake than defend it.
